Dollhouse Miniature Peony Wedding Cake

This is my most recent work! Featuring a soft pink peony wedding cake, this time round, I also added a trail of sugar roses and sugar drops by the side. The colours are all kept very airy and soft, a favourite of mine recently.

The 3 almost white peonies are actually a shade of very light pale pink.

The white cake stand just goes perfectly with it!

Happy Thursday all!

Pandan leaves origami

The other day, Mom was going to prepare a dessert drink for all of us. When the weather is getting hot, we would make our own grass jelly drink. One of the key ingredients for us is pandan leaves. In the past, I used to fold the leaves in an untidy way. Sometimes I would fold 4 leaves together, which ends up with a big untidy bunch. But Mom has taught me to fold each leaf individually, and I've managed to make them more neat!

Here is my pile of folded pandan leaves!

This way, when you boil the drink with the pandan leaves, the leaves won't fill up half the pot, and you can take them out of the pot easily after it is being boiled.

The unused leaves will be used to keep the cockroaches away....we put some of them in cabinets and cupboards!

Dollhouse Miniature Cabbage Flower

My latest creation is this cabbage flower in 1:12 dollhouse miniature scale!

I don't remember how long it has been since I fell in love with this cute lovely flower. I often wondered if they are edible, and apparently they are, but they are more often being used as ornamental pieces. I don't remember seeing them in the flower shops, but I'll keep a lookout for these next time!

I love the wavy leaves and soft colours, and that's what inspired me to make a dollhouse miniature version.

There is more than 1 colour type of cabbage flower, but for now, I'm into the whites, light greens and soft colours.

Hopefully this makes you smile, and have a fantastic week ahead!

Marriage Proposal Idea - Wedding Ring Box

Recently, a customer in the States had a unique marriage proposal idea which involves a larger version of my shabby bread box. I happily accepted the request to make a bread box big enough to fit a proposal wedding ring.

It never came across my mind that the bread box could be used to hide a proposal ring, but I can only imagine the delight on her face when she opens the cover and see the ring.

I also took the opportunity to place the 1:12 dollhouse scale bread box by the side to give a perspective of the measurements.

I inserted a sponge ring holder into the bread box so that the ring wouldn't move around in the box.

Today is Valentine's Day! So here's wishing all a very Happy Valentine's Day!

Green Hydrangea Part 2

Just last week, I blogged about my first experience shopping for hydrangea here. I forgot to mention, I should do a bit more research on prolonging cut hydrangeas next time. I had fun observing it drying out. It was so different from other flower types. Miraculously, the colour stayed quite well even after the petals are dried out. It was really pretty.

Inspired by colours, I made a miniature version.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Why do my pictures turn darker on Blogger?

For a little while now, I realized that Blogspot has been editing my photos automatically. I noticed that for my photos which has a light/bright background, it now has an ugly dark overcast. I knew something was not right. I'm not sure if any of you who are using blogspot are also noticing this.

But I found out how to fix this and immediately did so.

You will need to sign into your Google Plus account.

  • Click on Home > Settings
  • Scroll down to find "Auto Enhance" section.
  • Click "OFF" for "Automatically enhance new photos and videos.
Remember to click SAVE.

Please note that after you have done this, your future posts will now be OK. I went to check my previous posts which were affected and they were not corrected, so this means I had to manually delete and upload the photos again.

I hope this helps for those of you who are noticing your photos are a little different.
